Congressional Trading Alerts FAQ
FAQ about The Insiders Lab's congressional trading alert system — how it works, what you can filter, and how to get started.
How do congressional trading alerts work?
The Insiders Lab continuously monitors official House and Senate filing databases. When a new PTR is detected, it's parsed, normalized, and delivered as a structured alert with member, ticker, direction, amount, and filing details.
How fast are alerts delivered?
Alerts appear on the platform shortly after new filings are detected. The main bottleneck is the government filing process itself — members have 45 days to file.
Can I filter alerts by specific criteria?
Yes. You can filter by: member name, chamber (House/Senate), ticker symbol, trade direction (buy/sell), estimated amount range, and date.
Do I need a paid account for alerts?
Full real-time alerts require a subscription. You can explore our Congress Alerts page and member/ticker pages for free to understand the data structure.
Can I get email notifications?
Yes. Paid subscribers can receive email alerts and in-app notifications. Strategy-specific alerts are also available for custom setups.
What data is included in each alert?
Each alert includes: Congress member name, chamber, ticker symbol (when identifiable), trade direction, estimated dollar amount range, trade date, filing date, and asset description.
Can I integrate alerts with my trading platform?
Currently, alerts are delivered via the web app and email. API access may be available for institutional users — contact info@theinsiderslab.com.
